About Capital for Sustainability (C4S) 

Capital for Sustainability (C4S) is a philanthropic initiative whose mission is to align private capital with the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on climate action in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our goal is to double LMIC private climate finance in five years.  Capital for Sustainability is a fiscally sponsored fund at Assets Under Movement (AUM+).  

About Asia Regional Lead 

The Asia Regional Lead is the primary subject matter expert and portfolio owner for C4S's work in Asia, with focus on the South Asia and Southeast Asia sub-regions. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Managing Director, with a dotted reporting line to the Chief of Staff for day-to-day coordination.  

ROLE

Portfolio development  

  • Implement and lead private climate finance funding strategies across Asia, with focus on the South Asia and Southeast Asia sub-regions.  

  • Identify, structure, and oversee projects and funding proposals aligned with C4S's strategic priorities.  

  • Project manage regional efforts including developing reporting, metrics, goals, and analysis.  

  • Leverage and analyze data to continually improve regional strategic efforts.  

Grant and fiscal management  

  • Oversee grant cycle in the Asia region. 

  • Manage the relationship with fiscal sponsors, including processing grants and contracts.  

  • Ensure effective monitoring of grantees and investees for impact and compliance.  

  • Support budgeting and forecasting. 

External engagement  

  • Build and maintain partnerships with private financial institutions, relevant government agencies, and community-based stakeholders.  

  • Serve as a spokesperson for C4S at relevant forums, conferences, and coalitions.  

  • Advocate for private climate finance solutions at national and regional levels.  

Field knowledge sharing  

  • Support capacity building and knowledge transfer with grantees and partners.  

  • Produce thought leadership and communications (presentations, articles, social media posts) around mobilizing private capital for climate solutions in Asian economies. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-10 years of experience in private climate finance, including direct work with banks, credit unions, fintechs, asset managers, insurance companies, and/or venture capital firms. 

  • 3+ years leadership experience managing portfolios. 

  • Fluency in English. Additional Asian languages a plus. 

  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple medium to a vast variety of stakeholders.  

  • Ability to effectively represent C4S externally in a variety of settings. 

  • Excellent writing skills in English. 

  • Ability to effectively build and maintain deep partnerships with a variety of stakeholders. 

  • Experience with both sides of the grantmaking relationship: structuring and overseeing grants as a funder and managing reporting and compliance obligations as a grantee. 

  • Strong understanding of Asia’s private climate finance landscape. 

BENEFITS, SALARY, LOCATION, & ELIGIBILITY

This opportunity is a remote position open to all candidates eligible to work in the following Asian countries: Singapore, Bangladesh, Philippines, Vietnam, China (including Hong Kong), or Indonesia. Sponsored work visas are not available for this opportunity.

Salary: $80,000-$100,000 USD to be paid in local currency equivalent. 

This position is for a term of one-year.  Position extension is subject to review.
